Mona supports the PKG Center social innovation initiatives as a graduate community fellow. She is an Architect based in India and currently pursuing her Master of Science in Architecture Studies and Urbanism at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA. She completed her Bachelor of Architecture with distinction from School of Architecture and Planning, Anna University, India. She was felicitated with a National award as ‘JK AYA Best Architecture Student of the Year 2019’ by the Indian Council of Architecture for her undergraduate thesis on ‘Empowering Street Children in India’. She has worked with architecture firms both in India and Japan.
As a designer, she envisions a society that collectively values equity, diversity, ethnicity, and culture. Her approach to architecture and urban design dives into the larger spectrum of social egalitarianism and empowerment. She is interested in exploring the intersections of data driven and participatory design across various urban systems. Additionally, with her motivation to empower the marginalized communities and provide need-based design interventions, she co-founded a not for profit research based design organisation called DESI labs (Design for Environmental and Social Innovation).
