
The Friends of the MIT PKG Center is the Institute’s preeminent engagement opportunity for alumni and supporters who believe that public service and social impact should be an essential part of an MIT education. The group is made up of MIT alumni, parents, and other stakeholders of the PKG Center. The Friends help the PKG Center achieve the above stated mission through their financial support and volunteerism.
Opportunities & benefits
- Receive regular updates from the PKG Center and invitations to PKG events
- Attend member-only meetings and events with PKG Center leadership and students
- Serve as reviewers, speakers, mentors, and/or judges for student applicants and participants in PKG programs
- Advise and assist with special projects
- Membership in MIT’s Annual Giving Leadership Circle
Expectations
- Model and uphold the PKG Center’s values
- Serve as an ambassador for the PKG Center by becoming knowledgeable about the Center’s activities, generating awareness and fostering positive relationships to support the PKG Center within and outside the MIT community
- Support the PKG Center’s fundraising efforts
- Recognizing that each member brings special skills that strengthen the group and build the capacity of the PKG Center, Friends members may be called upon to assist with additional activities on an ad hoc basis
Annual contribution
A leadership-level contribution directly supports high-impact public service programs for MIT students, helping them develop critical skills through nonprofit internships, Fellowships, and social ventures. Friends’ support is vital as the PKG Center expands. While tiered giving levels align with MIT’s Annual Giving Leadership Circle, they also ensure inclusivity for younger alums and public service professionals.

$100 | MIT graduates pursuing ongoing higher education, for whom the full contribution is a financial barrier |
$250 | 1-4 years post-graduation |
$500 | 5-9 years post-graduation10+ year post-graduation with careers in public service for whom the full contribution is a financial barrier |
$1,000 | 10-14 years post-graduation |
$2,500 | 15 years post-graduation/all other members |
*Exceptions may be made on a case-by-case basis after consultation with PKG development staff.
