Who are they?

The Cherokee Nation is the largest tribe in the United States with more than 450,000 tribal citizens worldwide. The Cherokee Nation is committed to protecting its inherent sovereignty, preserving and promoting Cherokee culture, language and values, and improving the quality of life for the next seven generations of Cherokee Nation citizens.

What projects might I work on?

The MIT intern will work with the IT department to:

  • Experiment with emerging technologies to explore potential applications for the Cherokee Nation government.
  • Develop proof-of-concept projects using tools like Microsoft Copilot Studio, Azure, Power Platform, Salesforce AI, and Data Cloud.

What will working on projects look like?

  • Work with departments to identify pain points and propose innovative solutions.
  • Help create department-specific solutions to improve efficiency.
  • Research and analyze AI governance, ethical AI use, and emerging tech trends for Cherokee Nation

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in Python, SQL, or Power Automate
  • Experience with Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI)
  • Familiarity with Salesforce (Marketing Cloud, AI, and Data Cloud)
  • Knowledge of AI & Machine Learning (LLMs, Generative AI)
  • Understanding of Microsoft Copilot Studio & Microsoft Data Fabric
  • Experience with cloud computing (Azure, AWS, or similar)
  • API integration and development

Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills

  • Process automation and workflow optimization
  • Ability to analyze tech feasibility and propose solutions
