(Summer ’18) Karina Akib, G

Karina will be working in Siem Reap through a partnership with a healthcare NGO, Children of Cambodia to work towards developing a software to reduce the variation in the quality of colonoscopies and ultimately reduce the misdiagnosis rate of colorectal cancer. Karina is part of the founding team of a start-up out of MIT called Iterative Scopes that is developing computer vision tools for clinicians. She will be using her time in Cambodia to interview clinicians, understand their challenges and collect data to feed into their initial software prototype to ensure that the product can also be used in emerging markets.
