The Freedom Summer Fellowship provides MIT graduate students with a unique opportunity to work on the frontlines of transformational change in U.S. cities. The Fellowship, fully launched at MIT in 2024, matches graduate students with cities and community organizations to implement strategies and build capacity particularly in areas related to reindustrialization and the clean energy transition with benefits for economically disadvantaged communities.
The Freedom Summer Fellowship is seeking graduate students who are interested in working to deepen community-based solutions and provide technical assistance across the country. Graduate students will provide hands-on support to local leaders and communities while also learning more about current U.S. policy paradigms and urban economic development.
