Lia Valdez

Lia Valdez provides programmatic support to the PKG Center’s portfolio of programs through student engagement and outreach. Lia is responsible for cultivating relationships with student groups, residence halls, and departments at MIT. She develops thematic workshops and trainings that coincide with PKG programs to support student recruitment. In addition, she manages and disseminates student-facing materials at events and on social media. 

Prior to starting at the PKG Center, Lia worked with Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Eastern Massachusetts. She facilitated high impact relationships between mentors and high school students at the Community Academy of Science and Health in Dorchester, Massachusetts. She monitored the strength of pairs and proactively supported students in post-secondary planning through curated event planning and curriculum. 

Lia Valdez graduated from Boston University with a B.A. in International Relations, concentrating in International Systems and World Order and Latin America studies, and a minor in Public Relations.
