Rematriation

Who are they?

Rematriation is a non-profit, Haudenosaunee women-led organization dedicated to supporting the movement of Rematriation across Turtle Island by uplifting Indigenous Women’s voices and raising human consciousness toward living in balance with Mother Earth.

What projects might I work on?

  • Project 1: Interns will assist in organizing and creating funding opportunities working with our Grants Coordinator and Admin + Operations Lead.
  • Project 2: Interns will support our work on our public awareness campaign, growing the reach of our Rematration App and supporting the growth of our organization. This is inclusive of increasing our human capacity, building on all our digital platforms.
  • Project 3: Social Media Content creation

What will working on projects look like?

Interns will meet weekly with Rematriation staff and follow directions clearly outlined for interns to execute tasks. Communication is key! The Rematriation staff will have clear expectations set and should be adhered to.

Rematriation is currently in the midst of production of a talk show and podcast series. As a result, some projects are subject to get further specific. They will get more clear on expectations once they move along in their production process.

What could I expect to learn from this experience?

  • To learn the back end of website development and maintenance
  • Gaining knowledge in creating social media campaigns
  • To learn about the Grant process
  • Gaining knowledge of Haudenosaunee culture and matrilineality

What skills are they looking for in a strong candidate?

Intermediate Google Suite knowledge is a must for the intern role. General Knowledge in App Development and maintenance. Knowledge in website development, social media marketing, and content creation. An intern in this role can work well independently and takes initiative, with very clear communication skills.

All ICI placements will be remote during IAP. Students will meet regularly with their cohort during the IAP period in a hybrid format. The range of programming is a mixture of didactics, hands-on learning experiences, active engagements with the community, and reflection opportunities.
