Breanna Lam is a 3rd-year PhD Candidate and National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow in the Department of Biology. She earned a degree in molecular and cellular biology at UC San Diego, where she was a Regents Scholar. Her research in the lab of Dr. Sinisa Hrvatin is centered around unraveling the intricate genetic mechanisms that safeguard cells against the adverse effects of hypothermia. Beyond her research, Breanna is deeply committed to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives within the Whitehead Institute. She is an active participant in both the Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) and DEI Allies groups. In her free time, Breanna enjoys cooking, swimming, and has a keen interest in personal finance, consistently seeking to expand her knowledge in this field.
