Mariel García-Montes (G, Comparative Media Studies)
Mariel will spend the summer in East Boston, where she will be collaborating with ZUMIX on youth-led radio production with a focus on technology. She plans to conduct a course with teenagers to produce a show that promotes reflections on everyday technologies in their community to be broadcast on ZUMIX’s low-power FM station. The goal of the project will be to develop curriculum that can be used by other youth organizations and workers interested in critical thinking around technology, as well as strengthening ZUMIX’s programming in terms of research-based content and participatory processes.
