PKG Social Impact Living Learning (SILL) Community

Summer 2024

Are you a changemaker planning on working in the Boston area this summer? If you plan to intern, do research that has a focus on social impact, or are involved in a Fellowship, consider applying for our inaugural Social Impact Living Learning (SILL) Community.

PKG’s SILL Community is open to all MIT undergraduate students engaged in summer internships and research focused on creating positive social change. You will live in community with fellow changemakers in MIT campus housing. Members of the SILL community will receive MIT housing and funding to help cover living costs for the summer.

Please check back for more information on how to register for Summer 2024.

Who is eligible?

All undergraduate students at MIT who will be interning or conducting research that focuses on social impact.

Why should you apply?

You are excited about living in community with other change-makers and the opportunity to reflect on your work this summer through weekly dinners and activities led by the PKG Center.

MIT housing and funding is provided to help cover your living expenses this summer.

When should you apply?

The application period is from March 1 – March 31.

When are the program dates?

June 1 – August 11

Will I be placed into an internship, UROP, or Fellowship?

No. Acceptance into the program is contingent upon you receiving an internship or UROP that has a focus on social impact. We highly suggest that you apply to one of the existing social impact summer internships available through the PKG Center. If you have an offer from an organization that is not part of the PKG Center’s social impact internship program, we may still be able to offer you a place in the SILL community.
